PAX East: PR Support Program

Interactive Ontario’s Indie Superboost (ISB) PAX East PR Support Program is a three-month virtual program that provides Ontario video game/XR studios with personalized PR support leading up to PAX East (May 8-11 in Boston, USA). Studios will work with Indie Angels virtually and receive on-site support at PAX East.
  • When: Late February 2025 – May 2025, Kickoff Session with Indie Angels at the end of February
  • Where: Virtual & PAX East (Boston Convention & Exhibition Center)
  • Who: Independent Ontario video game companies (additional criteria below). Up to two leading members from each studio to participate in this program (i.e. Founders, Managers, or Leads).
  • Price:  $500 CAD + HST (IO Members) or $1000 CAD + HST (Non-members). Services provided by Indie Angels is valued at $15,000 CAD/studio (~50 hours). Please note that studios will be responsible for 50% of the booth cost. In addition, studios are fully responsible for the booth materials and equipment costs and travel/accommodation costs.

Game Announcement

  • Meetings with the teams to prepare the game information and follow up every 2 weeks leading up to PAX East

  • Draft & edit press release to final copy
  • Press/outreach list building for the release
  • Standard news distribution (add. distribution avail at add. cost)
  • Graphic image for the invitations and social media position including all teams
  • PAX press meetings: meeting outreach, schedule and short briefing notes
  • On-site support at PAX East
  • Basic follow-up & coverage report
  • Deliverables: Logo & Key art for signage due April 1; 2025; Approved press release & visual assets due by May 2, 2025

Game Demo Launch

  • Meetings with the teams to prepare the game information and follow up every 2 weeks leading up to PAX East
  • Edit copy provided by teams about product description / company description
  • Draft & edit press release to final copy
  • Press/outreach list building for the release
  • Demo pre-seeding & outreach
  • Standard news distribution (add. distribution avail at add. cost)
  • Graphic image for the invitations and social media position including all teams
  • PAX press meetings: meeting outreach, schedule and short briefing notes
  • On-site support at PAX East
  • Basic follow-up & coverage report
  • Deliverables: Logo & Key art for signage due April 1; 2025; Polished demo (min 20 minutes) for download and approved press release & visual assets due by April 25, 2025*.

Full Game Launch

  • Meetings with the teams to prepare the game information and follow up every 2 weeks leading up to PAX East
  • Edit copy provided by teams about product description / company description
  • Draft & edit press release to final copy
  • Press/outreach list building for review codes & the release
  • Review code pre-seeding & outreach; inbound code fulfillment
  • Standard news distribution (add. distribution avail at add. cost)
  • Graphic image for the invitations and social media position including all teams
  • PAX press meetings: meeting outreach, schedule and short briefing notes
  • On-site support at PAX East
  • Basic follow-up & coverage report
  • Deliverables: Logo & Key art for signage due April 1; 2025; Game codes for review by April 15, 2025**; Approved press release & visual assets due by April 25, 2025; and studio spokesperson’s time 1 week prior & 3 weeks after launch.

Who is leading this initiative?

Indie Angels Marketing Services was founded to help smaller to mid-sized game developers reach their highest potential. From pre-planning to post-launch maintenance and everything in between, we know how demanding and rewarding game development can be.

The Indie Angels team will be led by Elizabeth Olson, head of Strategy & Media, and Liz MacDonell, Marketing & head of Community:

Elizabeth provides valuable insight to her clients, as well as overseeing PR campaigns. A 25+ year game industry veteran working in Marketing, PR, BizDev and Thought Leadership. She’s held roles at companies such as Adobe, Virgin Interactive, and was the founding EIC of Game Informer.

Liz brings a fresh perspective and depth of online community knowledge to the team. Liz’s strong technical skills, combined with her creativity, help clients effectively market their games in the constantly changing digital landscape. She has over eight years of experience in print and digital media, managing numerous advertising and marketing accounts across Canada.

Deadline to apply: February 11, 2025 at 5:00 pm ET. Spots are limited to a maximum of 3 participating studios. Decisions on the final selected participants will be made by IO and notifications will be sent by February 18, 2025.
