IO Connect
IO Connect is the networking event series for the video game and interactive digital media (IDM) sector in Ontario. With a focus on connecting professionals, showcasing industry-leading talent, and celebrating the growth of the techno-creative sector in our province, IO Connect delivers the best of what the Ontario IDM industry has to offer.
Our June 2024 event (detailed below) builds on the success of the 4 IO Connects that Interactive Ontario hosted in 2022-23.

On Thusday, June 13th, 2024 from 6:30 pm ET, Interactive Ontario, in partnership with XP Gaming & Toronto Games Week, is thrilled to announce the return of IO Connect!
IO Connect: Summer Mixer 2024 will be an evening of celebration of Ontario’s video game and XR industry, officially kicking off Toronto Games Week and XP Game Summit Afterparty. This year’s event will take place at The Great Hall, one of Toronto’s most sought after entertainment venues with a rich history and a striking aesthetic.

Indie Superboost
Indie Superboost (ISB) is an industry-guided initiative designed to accelerate the growth and sustainability of video game indies (incl. XR game indies), by providing them with business skills, knowledge, and networking opportunities.
The ISB program is supported by a multi-talented advisory committee, composed of 5 indie developers with ranging backgrounds and experience. The ISB advisory committee members are outlined on our ISB program webpage.
Indie Superboost Marketing & Discoverability Bootcamp
IO will host an in-person one day ISB Bootcamp on marketing & discoverability in Toronto that will be held on June 11, 2024, before XP Game Summit scheduled on June 13-14, 2024. Participants will receive a comped VIP pass to the XP Game Summit. The bootcamp will consist of 4 reputable marketing and discoverability experts. The format for this day is 3 workshops with expert instructors, and two expert speakers.
- 10 indie studios (~20 in-person attendees), incl. 6 indies from Ontario & 4 from other provinces.
- Video game/XR developers & industry experts
- $5K Sponsorship package activations
Indie Superboost Inclusivity Workshop
IO will host a virtual two day ISB Inclusivity Workshop on June 4 & 6, 2024. The workshop will be lead by Ibiyemi Balogun, who is an experienced career and leadership coach. Following the workshop, Ibiyemi will meet with each studios 1:1 to address specific challenges and review their assigned tasks from the workshop.

Indie Superboost Online Talks
The live online talks are a series of one-hour online events exclusively dedicated to developers. Sessions occur on a monthly basis* with a new expert guest and topic to discuss.
Online ISB sessions are available to devs across Canada, via IO’s membership to the Canadian Interactive Alliance. The majority of participants are from Ontario.

Bringing Buyers to XP Game Summit
IO will bring 4 key international publishers, investors, and/or platforms to Toronto for XP Game Summit (June 13-14, 2024). They will do 10 meet-to-match meetings (30 mins each) with Ontario indie studios.

Impact Forum & Cocktail Mixer 2024
IO’s Impact Forum is an annual in-presence policy forum on June 12, 2024, bringing together Interactive Ontario’s Expand and Torchbearer Members and board directors, to discuss growth opportunities and policy development impacting the Interactive Digital Media (video game/XR) Sector in Ontario. The forum is led by the Advocacy Committee followed by an exclusive cocktail mixer.
Who will be at the IO Impact Forum Cocktail Mixer?
- 40-50 invited executives and decision makers of leading companies in Ontario
- 40-50 key stakeholders (government leaders and policy makers, sponsors of the Impact Forum). In 2023, we had Minister Lumsden and Councillor Carroll as special guests.
The Lodgge
The Lodgge is designed to celebrate and champion Ontario studios and the incredible projects they develop. It is a home for anyone actively interested in what our province has to offer.
