Interactive Ontario (IO) is the trade association representing the video game and interactive digital media (IDM) sector in Ontario. IO’s members produce, commercialize and export interactive digital entertainment and edutainment such as video games, extended reality applications (VR, AR, MR) and eLearning content. IO’s mission is to inspire, unite and enable Ontario’s IDM industry to achieve long-term growth and prosperity. Through advocacy, connections, insights, resources, programs, and building meaningful partnerships with the industry and its stakeholders, IO is dedicated to positioning Ontario as a leader on the world stage.
IO is looking for new directors/officers to advocate for Ontario’s IDM sector. In particular, we are seeking representatives from emerging, independent IDM companies. Familiarity with raising funds/capital would also be considered an asset. If you know (or are) someone who fits these criteria then we hope you will respond to this call for nominations!
Interactive Ontario is committed to creating an inclusive workplace, and to having directors/officers who reflect the diversity of Ontario’s population. We encourage nominations of individuals who self-identify as belonging to an underrepresented group, including but not limited to Indigenous peoples, Black and other racialized individuals, LGBTQQI2SAA+ communities, and persons with disabilities.
The election of the 2023-2024 directors will take place at the IO Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September, 023, and the officers will be appointed at a board meeting following the AGM. More information on the AGM will be announced over the next few months.
IO’s directors/officers are a committed group of professionals working to advance the interests of Ontario’s IDM sector. Each director/officer is expected to commit to attending monthly/bi-monthly board meetings, as well as IO’s AGM. Additionally, each director/officer is expected to actively participate on IO’s various committees. We are seeking collaborative, highly-engaged individuals who are prepared to commit at least 5 hours per month to IO.
Potential candidates must complete the IO Nominations Survey here. Nominations are due by 7 PM ET on June 28, 2023.
Any nominations received after that time will not be considered for recommendation by IO’s nominations committee, but all eligible candidates may seek election at IO’s AGM.
