Closing Toronto Games Week 2026 In Style!

Attendees at the Toronto Games Week Closing Party Event watching Lucie LaLumiere speaking

What a night to close out Toronto Games Week. From game demos to a breathtaking aerial silk performer, the energy at Demo Room was exactly what years of community building looks like in action.

Thank you to Toronto Games Week visionaries Jim Munroe and Marie LeBlanc Flanagan, everyone who came out, from developers to video game fans, and to all the organizers, contributors, and partners who made this week possible. Your enthusiasm was contagious, and we were excited to see so many of you take part in the Interactive Ontario 25th anniversary photobooth throughout the night!

A special shoutout to the 50+ event organizers and the 100+ volunteers who made Toronto Games Week possible. And thank you to all the leaders, contributors, and partners who brought the closing party to life, including TOJam, Dirty Rectangles, Dream Game, HyperGame StoryTime, Demo Room, CrowdParty, The City of Toronto, Ontario Creates, and Toronto Public Library.

A final thank you to the Interactive Ontario members who made their mark on Toronto Games Week, whether by organizing their own initiatives, showcasing their projects, partnering with event organizers, or simply showing up to support Ontario’s video game community.

If you were there and snapped some photos, we want to see them. Tag us in your best moments!

We can’t wait to see what Toronto Games Week has in store for 2027.

Giant Video Games 2026

Toronto Games Week kicked off with a spectacular start. Giant Video Games brought out local studios, developers, partners, and some of the most passionate supporters in the city for a waterfront celebration at the Canada Malting Silos. Over 40 local games were playable on the night, while a selection of Toronto titles were projected directly onto the silos, creating a stunning backdrop for an evening that captured exactly what makes this community worth celebrating.

Thank you to our special guest Deputy Mayor Malik for delivering inspiring opening remarks, and connecting directly with a number of leading Ontario studios showcasing at the event.

A huge thank you to the City of Toronto, which produced the event in partnership with Toronto Games Week, with support from Interactive Ontario, Unity, and OCAD University.

Giant Video Games also marked the launch of Toronto Made: The World in a City Illuminated, showcasing work from over 50 local game studios and creative partners on the Canada Malting Silos. Presented by the City of Toronto Film and Creative Industries as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts initiative, the projections run nightly through July 19 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Local Game Days from 9 p.m. to midnight. A stunning complement to an already memorable evening.

The G.R.I.D 2026

Interactive Ontario was proud to return as a partner for the second iteration of The G.R.I.D., and Ontario developers showed up in full force. The evening brought together nearly 60 developers showcasing 36 exciting projects, critical feedback from over 90 knowledgeable playtesters, and a prestigious group of industry judges.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Thank you to Antonio Miceli, the team at Mega Power Games, and our fellow partners Unity, Toronto Games Week, George Brown College, Ravine Studios, and XP Gaming for building a space where developers get real feedback and real recognition.

Echo Generation 2 Launch Party

Interactive Ontario was honoured to join the Cococucumber team and friends from across the industry at TIFF Bell Lightbox to celebrate the launch of Echo Generation 2. It was inspiring to hear Vanessa and Martin talk about the remarkable journey leading to the release of Echo Generation 2, praise their highly talented team and collaborators, and highlight the importance of Ontario Creates and CMF funding programs.

Echo Generation 2 is out now on Steam, XBOX, and XBOX Game Pass. Congratulations to Vanessa Chia, Martin Gauvreau, the entire Cococucumber team, and their wonderful collaborators, including CONTINUE Marketing Agency.

Vector Festival 2026

Vector Festival 2026 - Who Cares for the Cyborg? July 9 to July 19

Now in its 14th edition, Vector Festival is an experimental media arts festival showcasing digital games and creative media practices through exhibitions, screenings, performances, and workshops across Toronto this July. This year’s theme explores the parallels between computer and human bodies, asking how we care for the machines in our lives and what that means for the people most dependent on them.

Highlights include the Where Are Your Guts? Gamemaking Residency Showcase (July 16 to 18), an interactive performance activation presented by Insomniac Film Festival (July 10), and a hands-on electronics workshop with Kate Hartman and Juan Sulca (July 19). All events are held at InterAccess, 32 Lisgar St.
