How do you seal the deal with a game publisher or investor? First, you need to be able to distinguish your game from the rest of the pack through great content, but secondly and just as importantly, your pitching style and execution must impress as well. This session will help you hone your pitching skills by hearing from the industry veterans as they talk about their own successes and failures. How did they get that crucial handshake, and what lessons were learned when they didn't?

Rob Caouette is a Sector Advisor for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Sector Team, part of the Business Development Group at Export Development Canada.
With over 15 years of EDC experience, Rob has an in-depth knowledge of the ICT Sector, and is the go-to person both internally and externally for all matters related to this vibrant growth sector for Canada.  Rob provides meaningful advice and support to both the team of dedicated ICT underwriters within EDC as well as to Canadian Exporters operating within the industry in order to help them grow their business abroad while mitigating their financial risks. 
Over the past 2 years, Rob has been focused on the New Media sub–sector, striving to better understand the unique financial challenges and gaps in the industry.  He has been an innovative force in developing and supporting EDC’s New Media Sector Strategy aimed at supporting both Canadian Exporters as well as foreign buyers and investors in the industry.

Jason Della Rocca is a game industry consultant that works with game studios and organizations all over the world. For nearly nine years, he served as the executive director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), and was honored for his industry building efforts with the inaugural Ambassador Award at the Game Developers Conference. In 2009, Jason was named to Game Developer Magazine's "The Game Developer 50", a list which profiles 50 of the most important contributors to the state of the game industry. As a sought after expert on the game industry, Jason has lectured at conferences and universities worldwide.

Nathan Vella is co-founder and president of Toronto, Canada-based independent developer Capybara Games, or Capy for short. After developing Critter Crunch (iOS, PSN) and Might & Magic Clash of Heroes (DS, XBLA, PSN, PC), Capy recently released Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP for iOS in collaboration with Superbrothers and musician Jim Guthrie. Nathan was addicted to Tribes 1, still plays Cammy in Super Street Fighter 4 AE, and enjoys long walks on the beach while holding hands. Bram Sugarman has spent his career playing, developing, growing console, online and mobile games.  As a Software Engineer at Electronic Arts in Montreal Bram worked on five titles over the course of  three years.  Most recently Bram worked with social and mobile gaming company Uken Games building their growth and monetization strategies.  As a member of the OMERS Ventures investment team Bram leads efforts to fund great gaming companies that are taking advantage of the exciting opportunities in the sector.  Bram holds a B.Sc. in Software Engineering from McGill University and an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
