Interactive Ontario is seeking a full-time Communications and Events Coordinator. The selected candidate will be an integral part of our small-but-mighty team and will be tasked with ensuring our members, the industry at large, press and other stakeholders are well informed about our events, advocacy work and programs, as well as key industry news. This position is also responsible for logistics for Interactive Ontario events. This is a remote position for an Ontario-based candidate.

Interactive Ontario is a not-for-profit industry trade association committed to the growth of the Ontario interactive digital media (IDM) industry.

Interactive Ontario fosters growth in the IDM industry in Ontario through government advocacy, events, professional development programs, connections to business opportunities and meaningful partnerships with complementary organizations. IO hosts over 35 events each year, providing knowledge sharing and networking in this quickly evolving industry.

IO represents over 330 IDM companies, with a diverse group of members ranging from SMEs (small & medium enterprises) to large international corporations. They produce innovative experiences in a variety of subsectors including video games, eLearning, multiplatform storytelling, augmented and virtual reality and more.



The Communications and Events Coordinator reports to the Program Director.



  • A degree or diploma in a related field (Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or other)
  • 3 years’ experience in a communications role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of public relations and social media best practices
  • Highly organized and detail driven
  • Proactive and self motivated
  • An interest in the interactive digital media sector



  • Create and schedule Interactive Ontario’s newsletter, website and social media content
  • Create event marketing materials and Eventbrite pages
  • Coordinate with freelance graphic designer and printing vendor
  • Create and execute event and program marketing plans
  • Handle Interactive Ontario’s public relations outreach
  • Distribute and analyze post-event surveys
  • Assist with funding applications and reports
  • Act as IO’s liaison with academic institutions and students
  • Participate as the staff representative on the Emerging Talent Committee and the Membership, Marketing & Communications Committee
  • Liaise with event venues, caterers and AV providers
  • Other duties related to IO’s initiatives as necessary
