Techsdale, a new digital media project aimed at supporting young residents in Toronto’s Rexdale neighbourhood, has just announced a pilot game design program to be hosted at Humber College’s North Campus. The program’s goal is to teach young people to create websites, games, and apps, and ultimately to help diversify the tech sector and games industry. Through weekly classes that run for 14 weeks (16 August to 15 November), Techsdale’s pilot will help students, ages 14-18, develop portfolios of games through project-based learning, teamwork, mentorship, and skills training. The project was co-founded by community activist and Canada Commons co-host Andray Domise and web designer and tech educator Samuel Allemang. You can follow the project at techsdale.ca.
